Using and Applying Maths

Problem Solving
The activities for 7 to 10 year old provide a range of one and two step problems involving all four operations. The resources combine words, images and diagrams to pose and resolve the problems. Many of the problems involve time and units of measurement.
Puzzles
The puzzle activities for 7, 8, 9 and 10 year olds provide a range of puzzles involving number, shape, memory sorting and pattern.
Money Problems
A range of one and two step money problems involving the use of all four operations and pounds and pence notation. For children between 7 and 10 years.

Understanding Numbers

Partitioning & Place Value
The place value activities start with partitioning and the use of partitioned numbers in calculation and develop to include the effect on place value of multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000.
Rounding & Estimating
These activities cover rounding to the nearest ten and hundred, estimating the sum of two numbers, using number facts to check calulations, and rounding and estimating decimals.
Number Sequences
The activities listed here cover counting on and back in fixed steps, patterns in operations using multiples of 10, 100 and 1000 negative numbers and times tables as repeated addition.
Comparing Numbers
These activities deal with comparing and ordering numbers covering place value, less than and greater than symbols, ordering decimals and negative numbers. The resources are aimed at children aged 7 to 10.
Decimals
The decimal activities include place value, introduction to the decimal point, decimals and equivalent fractions,  mental and written calculations with decimals and the effect on decimal numbers when multiplying or dividing by 10, 100 or 1000.
Fractions
The resources listed here offer various strategies for understanding fractions from simple fractions of quantities, through reading and writing fractions, equivalent fractions, fraction and decimal equivalents, the relationship between fractions and division, ordering fractions and simplifying fractions.

Times Tables
These activities provide a variety of quizzes, puzzles, strategies and tips for learning times tables. Specific activities cover multiples, multiplication and division inverses, factors, repeated addition and a 10 x 10 multiplication grid.
Factors & Multiples
The resources listed here support the study of factors and multiples, exploring rules and sequences as well as division and multiplication in determing the relationship between a multiple and its factors.
Addition & Subtraction Facts
These activities for 7 to 9 year olds focus on addition and subtraction facts, starting with facts to twenty and building to include addition - subtraction inverses and multiples of 10 and 100.
Doubling & Halving
These activities support the develoment of halving and doubling strategies using number facts, inverses and estimating.
Checking Calculations
These activities for 7 to 10 year olds cover claculation checking strategies using knowledge of number facts, inverses, halving and doubling and rounding and estimating.

Calculating

Addition
The addition activities are intended for children between 7 and 10 and support formal and informal methods for learning addition including number lines, column addition, counting on, number facts, partitioning and a variety of activities to support mental addition.
Subtraction
The subtraction activities are intended for children between 7 and 10 and support formal and informal methods for learning subtraction including number lines, column subtraction, counting back, number facts, exchanging and activities to support mental subtraction.
Multiplication
The multiplication resources cover various aspects multiplication from times tables to repeated addition, number patterns and informal written methods involving partitioning. Multiplication as the inverse of addition also features along with mulriplication by 10, 100 and 1000.
Division
These activities for 7 to 10 year olds support a range of division strategies from divsion as sharing through, division as a fraction, multiplication and divsion inverses, divsion by grouping, repeated subtraction, and the effect on numbers when dividing by 10, 100 or 1000.
Calculators
The calculator resources are aimed at children from 8 to 10 and cover calculator input, and the use of calculators for checking calculations and problem solving.

The resources listed here are a subset of the general fractions list and specifically target understanding of fractions of quantities and numbers, particularly relating fractions to division and grouping.

Understanding Shape

2D Shapes
The resources covering 2 D shapes are aimed at 7 to 10 year olds and deal with initial shape recognition and properties and develop to encompass symmetry, angles, regular and irregular shapes and perimeter.
3D Shapes
The resources covering 3 D shapes are aimed at 7 to 10 year olds and deal with initial shape recognition and properties, classification by features and nets.
Symmetry
The symmetry activities introduce reflective symmetry in 2D shapes and patterns.
Coordinates
The coordinate activities include movement around a grid, grid references and plotting and reading coordinates in the first quadrant. The resources are aimed at 7, 8, 9 and 10 year old children.

The perimeter and area activities cover the finding of perimeters of squares, rectangles and more complex shapes both by counting squares and calculation. Length
These activities for 7, 8, 9 and 10 year olds cover various aspects of length and distance including, measuring, estimating, reading a scale, choosing the most appropriate unit and the relationship between mm, cm, metres and kilometres.
Weight
These activities for 7, 8, 9 and 10 year olds cover various aspects of weight including, measuring, estimating, reading a scale, choosing the most appropriate unit and the relationship between grams and kilograms.
Capacity
These activities for 7, 8, 9 and 10 year olds cover various aspects of capacity from measuring, estimating, reading a scale, choosing the most appropriate unit and the relationship between litres and millilitres.
Temperature
These activities for 7, 8, 9 and 10 year olds include an introduction to measuring temperature in degrees celsius, using a thermometer, reading a scales with negative numbers.

Handling Data

Tally Chart & Frequency Tables
A variety of data handling activites are listed for children aged 7 to 10,  the focus is on data collection with tally charts, frequency tables and pictograms some of which are extended to include representation and interpretation using bar charts and line graphs.
Bar Charts & Line Graphs
A variety of data handling activites are listed, covering data collection, presentation and interpretation. The resources are aimed children between 7 and 10 and include tally charts, frequency tables, pictograms with a focus on bar charts and line graphs.
Sorting and Averages
These activities are intended for children between 7 and 10 and cover Venn diagrams, Carroll Diagrams and finding the mode in a set of data.
